Elders from the vote rich Luhya
community have urged Western
politicians to put aside their
differences and forge one united
movement ahead of the 2017
General Election.
Speaking yesterday, the elders led
by their Secretary, Barua Chele,
said plans were underway to unite
all the Luhya leaders to gun for
the Presidency with one voice.
He noted that the council would in
February meet former Deputy
Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi,
New Ford Kenya Leader, Eugene
Wamalwa, Ford Kenya Leader,
Moses Wetangula, FPK Leader,
Cyrus Jirongo, former House
Speaker, Kenneth Marende, and
Kakamega Senator, Bonny
Khalwale, with the intention of
uniting them so that they can
chose one among them to run for
the Presidency in 2017.
Chele noted that come what may,
2017 will be a year for the Luhyas
and that one of them must become
President and will be supported by
the rest.
“Let them choose one among
them to be President; we want
them to speak in one voice…. Let
them tell us their plans for the
community and their strategies to
attract support from the rest of
the country”, said Chele.
