Deputy President, William Ruto, has given President Uhuru Kenyatta a one-month ultimatum to either sack 4 officials of his kitchen Cabinet or United Republic Party (URP) withdraws from the Jubilee coalition.
Speaking during a fundraising ceremony in aid of the construction of Litein Faith Church sanctuary in Litein Town, Bureti Constituency of Kericho County, on Sunday, Ruto’s ally and Kericho Senator, Charles Keter said four individuals in Uhuru’s Cabinet procured witnesses to incriminate Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“I think it is a shame that the same people who wanted to fix Ruto are sitting comfortably in Government. How do you serve the Government of the person you wanted to jail?” Keter posed.
Keter named Interior Coordination Permanent Secretary Mutea Iringo and President Kenyatta’s adviser, Nancy Gitau, as senior Government officials in the current administration who had gone to great lengths to send people to the ICC to give false testimony against Mr Ruto.
Keter asked President Kenyatta to kick the two out of Government at once and send them to jail for betraying Ruto.
The lawmaker also said should President Kenyatta find himself unable to remove the officers; he would marshal the support of like-minded political leaders to have them kicked out of Government by any means possible.
“We cannot keep on sharing power with such individuals. Some of us are not ready to negotiate with such people. We are not going to do that because we want the truth to prevail and we do not know where the loyalty of these people really is,” He said.
