I want UHURU KENYATTA to remain an ICC criminal until his Government hands over EVIDENCE to jail him – BENSOUDA says.

Wednesday February 5, 2014 -
The Office of the Prosecutor at the
International Criminal Court (ICC)
is asking the Trial Chamber V (b)
judges to delay the trial of Kenya’s
President Uhuru Kenyatta until he
hands over what they say is
"critical" evidence in the case.
In a hearing on Wednesday in The
Hague, Bensouda’s team accused
the Kenyan Government of
obstruction of justice, particularly
with its request to access
Kenyatta's financial records.
The Prosecution team said they
are seeking information related to
funding the deadly ethnic violence
that followed the country's 2007
elections.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is
charged with five counts of crimes
against humanity for his alleged
role in orchestrating the violence
that broke out during the 2007-08
post election violence.
In the case, some key witnesses
have withdrawn and what is
remaining is a shell of a case.
But Bensouda’s team has insisted
that the case should not be
terminated until Uhuru’s
Government “hands over all the
necessary documents to prosecute
him.”
“We want Uhuru to remain a jail
bird until his Government hands
over information to the ICC,”
Prosecution counsel, Benjamin
Gumper, told the judges.
