MUST READ,,,Benefits of moderate alcohol drinking.

By GariHirriyuki Tagawah

Drinking alcohol in moderate amounts can have positive influences on
physical and mental health. While alcohol is one of the most widely abused
substances on the market, it is also one that features certain benefits for
drinkers who consume it in safe amounts. For individuals who consume low
levels of alcohol, benefits like reduced stress, increased cardiovascular health
and decreased risk of developing type 2 diabetes offer a wealth of reasons
for consumers to drink in moderation.

1. Reduce Stress, Anxiety and Tension

Research shows that the consumption of alcohol in moderate amounts can
lead to certain psychological benefits. Low levels of alcohol can trigger stress
reduction, easy feelings of anxiety and help consumers to reduce tension. In
addition, low levels of alcohol consumption can also cause the consumer to feel more pleasant and relaxed. Studies on sleep show that people who drink in moderation get more sleep on average than do those who indulge in excess. These psychological effects of moderate drinking are positive ones
that can be beneficial to the consumer.

2.A Longer Life

The positive psychological effects of drinking in moderation can be associated
with the studies that show moderate drinkers tend to live longer than people
who don't drink at all or those who drink in excess. Studies from a number of different countries including China, the United States and England indicate
that longevity is highest among groups of people who drink alcohol in
moderation.

3.Increased Cardiovascular Health

Several studies have shown that drinking alcohol in moderation has a
positive correlation with certain aspects of cardiovascular health. In
particular, the risk of developing coronary artery disease is significantly
lowered in conjunction with moderate consumption of alcohol. Another link
between alcohol and cardiovascular health shows that moderate
consumption of alcohol has a positive correlation with survivability in the
event of a heart attack. Those who drink low levels of alcohol are more likely to live and less likely to experience another heart attack.
Alcohol produces several positive effects on the body when consumed in low levels.  For example, it increases levels of good cholesterol (HDL) and lowers levels of bad cholesterol (LDL). Alcohol also acts as a blood thinner once it enters the human body, much like common aspirin does. Thus, when
consumed in moderation, it can reduce the likelihood of developing blood
clots in arteries.

4.Decreased Risk for Type 2 Diabetes

While consuming alcohol in large quantities has been proven to put drinkers at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes, some studies show that
drinking in moderation might have the opposite effect. The relationship
between alcohol and type 2 diabetes is the focus of a great number of
ongoing studies. Findings show, however, that moderate drinkers are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than heavy drinkers.
All of these health benefits associated with moderate drinking serve as an
incentive for consumers to limit their levels of alcohol intake. Too much
alcohol eliminates the health benefits described above. The best way to
maximize on the health benefits of alcohol is to consume it in low levels.

UoN students plan to storm 2 prisons and release prisoners as their friends risk death sentence

Security
in Nairobi is on high alert
following plans by University of
Nairobi Students to storm Langata
and Kamiti Prisons and release
prisoners.
The students are angered by the
court for refusing to release 12 of
their colleagues unless with sh 2
million bond each, saying the
accused can’t raise such money.
The 12 were arrested from the
university’s Lower Kabete Campus
for disrupting the SONU elections
and for planning to commit felony.
However, five more counts have
been added to them, including
robbery with violence and
malicious damage to property,
after several students reported to
the police that they had been
robbed of their phones and laptops
by the accused, who were armed
with crude weapons.
The accused were arrested with
dangerous weapons among them
Glock pistol, knives and pangas
with the intention to commit a
crime.
The 12 now face a death sentence
as far as robbery with violence is
concerned.
“You have to listen to these counts
carefully because the punishment
is death”, said Court Clerk Vincent
Owuor, urging them to be
attentive to the counts relating to
robbery with violence.

WHY KENYATTA UNIVERSITY IS THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN KENYA TODAY.

Kenyatta University stands a better
chance of being the best University
in Africa in a few years to come
should its trend of progress
continue. Being the best University
in Africa, will make it the best
institution in Kenya, a position, it
has managed to achieve currently.
Forget about the Webometrics
ranking; look at it from a realistic
perspective.
MODERN FACILITIES
Unicity; the university is in the
process of constructing an
elaborate state of the art Uni-city
which is a representation of many
more other facilities which have
taken shape in Kenyatta University.
The different projects currently
ongoing include; The Campanile;
bell Tower(First of its kind in
Kenya), Teaching and Referral
Hospital(600 bed capacity and
Cancer Center), Five Star Hotel and
Recreation Center, 6,000 capacity
Amphitheatre among other many
projects. Anyone who visits
Kenyatta University today may fail
to realize that the Post Modern
Library is the largest in East and
Central Africa, but such people will
not fail to realize that the University
has a very, very bright future.
INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS;
When it comes to initiating
innovative programs, Kenyatta
University, seemingly has failed to
get a rival. Recently, the Vice
Chancellor, Prof. Olive Mugenda
announced that plans are in
advanced stages to introduce
leadership training to all students
to give them a competitive edge in
the job market. This is in response
to the change in taste and
preferences of employers who are
keener in the soft skills than the
academic papers. This comes at a
time when the SWIP [Student Work
Internship Program] is just taking
shape. The students will be hired to
work [to get work experience and
earn some little cash], as they
progress with their academic
programs. Similarly, this will give
the students a competitive edge in
the job market.
SERENE ENVIRONMENT;
The University is situated in an
expansive area of serene and
adorable environment. When you
visit other universities where the
difference between a University
fence and a street is an electric
pole; that is when you will realize
the serenity of Kenyatta University.
The terrain is gently sloping and
conducive for the learning process.
The environment provides a
perfect holiday destination.
INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY;
Unlike other institutions in Kenya,
Kenyatta University has taken the
lead in terms of innovation and
championing creativity. Look at
Chandaria Business and Innovation
Incubation Center for instance. It
was the first university to
implement such an idea. Today,
the centre hosts more than 40
projects; 70% of which are initiated
and owned by K.U students. The
remaining 30% are spread open
for the innovators outside Kenyatta
University Community. Interestingly,
the center hosts a number of
students from other institutions
such as ‘The’ University of Nairobi,
JKUAT et al. The center has
produced award winning projects
and also given perfect platforms for
innovative students.
SLIGHTLY LOWER COST OF LIVING;
Since the University is located
between Nairobi and Kiambu
counties and strategically between
the agricultural towns of Ruiru and
Githurai, the cost of living is slightly
lowered compared to other
institutions which are hosted by
the Central Business Districts
(CBDs). On the same note, the
presence of Kilometre Moja(K.M),
in its precincts cannot pass
unnoticed. This small ‘shopping
mall’, as it is referred to provides
students with all their needs. The
costs of housing in these areas are
not very high compared to other
places.
SOBER APPROACH;
The university is placing itself in a
position which will make it the
epitome of sobriety. Other
universities have perfected in the
art of intolerance, they always form
part of the active new bulletin in the
media; not because they are
innovative; but because of all
wrong reasons. Kenyatta University
has embraced tranquility and sober
approach to issues. Expectedly, a
set up of a university stature might
not be smooth in its systems all
through, but as they say, how we
respond to issues determine who
we become in the long run.
TALENTS EXPLOITATION;
If you have a talent to exploit,
Kenyatta University is the best place
for you. Starting from arts,
entrepreneurship, technical ability,
at least K.U has a package for
everyone. Most of Kenya’s admired
talents are actually bred and
hatched in Kenyatta University.
Here, talents are identified and
tapped; platforms are facilitated
and provided-just for you.
PRAGMATIC STUDENTS
LEADERSHIP;
As compared to others, Kenyatta
University Students’ Association
(KUSA) stands out to be among the
best. Like the administration, the
leadership is sober in its moves
and very innovative in nature. The
working relationship with the
administration is that which is
desired by many. The mindset of
everyone is fixed towards the long
term strategic goals and nothing is
left to discourage anyone.
RESOURCEFUL STUDENTS
POPULATION;
Kenyatta University hosts a number
of students with rich and diverse
backgrounds. Once in the
university, their mindsets are wired
and the common goals are
communicated. Therefore, one will
wonder why the students are all
focused to the main goal; the
answer in that case would be
simple, because they are Kenyatta
University students. Currently, the
university hosts close to 70,000
students; a representation of a
future vibrant labor force in the
labor market.
WIDE VARIETY IN COURSES
OFFERED;
Today, Kenyatta University is a host
to many courses; most of which are
in line with the current taste of the
corporate world. These courses are
developed in a way that they make
the student relevant for a long time
and competitive globally. The
University has also tailor made
some courses and short trainings
to facilitate the Kenya’s moments of
ushering in devolution and county
governments.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE
PRIVATE FIRMS;
The university enjoys a cordial and
warm relationship with the
corporates. This is enough news to
the finalists. Most of the institutions
have signed agreements with the
university in various platforms to
facilitate smooth transition of
students. Uchumi chain stores for
instance, is one of the partners
which will be hosted in the
upcoming Uni-City. Corporate
goodwill is manifested mostly
during Career fair and when
different clubs have their activities.
IN CONCLUSION;
The reasons might be incredibly
many. To be honest, I have not
managed to list a third of all of
them. To this end, any sober
judgment will place the university in
its rightful place. Of course, this
does not mean there are no
hitches. But, when achievements
outnumber the weaknesses, it
becomes prudent to recognize
such efforts.

5 Amazing Things You Didn't Know About Marijuana

By GariHirriyuki Tagawah

It's no coincidence that marijuana legalization
support has surged with the growth of social
media. The voices of the Reefer Madness era
are silenced daily as studies and testimonials
continue pouring in about this often
misunderstood plant. Ignorance still remains,
however, and this fight won't be won without
continued education of the masses.
It takes one fact that hits home to sway
someone's opinion. Maybe one of the following
will do that for you. Here are five things about
marijuana you may not have known:

1. THC and CBD, marijuana's primary
cannabinoids, are both cancer killers.
No, I'm not talking about using marijuana to
help manage cancer's effects. It's actually anti-
cancer.
Recent research out of Spain suggests that THC,
marijuana's psychoactive ingredient, kills brain
cancer cells. Study co-author Guillermo Velasco
claims that when THC was applied to cancerous
brain tissue, the cancer cells were killed while healthy cells were left alone.
CBD apparently does the same; a pair of scientists from California Pacific Medical Center
in San Francisco demonstrated the
cannabinoid's ability to stop metastasis in many
kinds of aggressive cancer.
Imagine if this plant were discovered in a jungle
two weeks ago. What would the news be
saying? The CBD article goes as far as to say the
breakthrough could "potentially alter the fatality
of the disease forever." The lack of media
coverage for this is astounding, but that doesn't
diminish the research.

2. Marijuana triggers neurogenesis.
Layman's terms: It leads to brain cell growth.
Wait....marijuana is supposed to kill brain cells,
right?
Wrong.
The roots of the marijuana-kills-brain-cells myth
are deep despite the lack of credible evidence.
The original study supporting this notion is
questionable at best and recent research
suggests exactly the opposite.
In 2005, a study showed cannabinoids' ability to
promote neurogenesis in the adult
hippocampus, the brain region responsible for
many important brain functions including
mood and memory. The authors also cited anti-
anxiety and anti-depressant effects that
accompany the neurogenesis. This explains why
people across California, Colorado, Washington
and other marijuana-friendly states often turn
to the herb for a mood-boost instead of
pharmaceutical drugs. It also supports research
that marijuana helps improve cognitive function
in bipolar disorder patients. This brings us to
our next fact....

3. Suicide rates are lower in areas where
medical marijuana is available.
A Denver state-level study analyzed the
statistical trend of suicide after introduction of
medical marijuana.
From the study:
"Our results suggest that the passage of a
medical marijuana law is associated with an
almost 5% reduction in total suicide rate, an
11% reduction in the suicide rate of age 20-29
males, and a 9% reduction in the suicide rate of
30-39 males."
It's interesting this hasn't become mainstream
data in a country so focused on suicide
prevention. Not surprisingly, one of the main
reasons cited by the study's authors for the
decrease was connected to the at-risk
population (20 and 30-something males)
replacing alcohol with marijuana. This data
makes the strictness of Illinois' new medical
marijuana policy even more laughable.
"Don't let usage get out of control! Less people
might commit suicide!"
But what about the physical effects?

4. There is zero evidence that marijuana
causes significant lung damage.
While vaporization is always touted as the safest
method of marijuana ingestion, the largest
study of its kind suggested marijuana-only
smoking is harmless as well:
"We hypothesized that there would be a
positive association between marijuana use and
lung cancer, and that the association would be
more positive with heavier use. What we found
instead was no association at all, and even
some suggestion of a protective effect."
The above words come from UCLA Medical
Doctor Donald Tashkin, author of the study and
marijuana researcher of more than 30 years.
Considering the tar in marijuana smoke was
found to contain as many harmful carcinogens
as cigarette smoke, this study actually
strengthens the notion that marijuana is anti-
cancer. The plant itself seems to have an
offsetting effect for the harmful properties of smoke.

5. There are two completely different types
of marijuana, both with different effects on
the user.
One of the biggest mistakes made by people
who first try marijuana is immediately thinking
that it's "not for them." It certainly isn't for
everyone, but what if they just tried the wrong
kind?
There are hundreds of different strains of
marijuana, tagged with names like Blue Dream,
OG Kush, Trainwreck or Pineapple. All of these
are categorized as "Sativa" or "Indica." Here's a
simple-as-possible explanation on the
difference:
Sativas are usually day-time strains, used to
enhance the experience of social events, time in
nature or listening to new music. Caregivers
often recommend sativa strains for patients
seeking relief from depression, PTSD, fatigue
and some types of anxiety and pain. Some
patients even report positive effects on ADHD
while medicating with sativa strains. Although
sativas produce an enjoyable effect, they usually
are the culprit for an inexperienced user
"tweaking out" during one of their first times
smoking.
Indicas are often smoked at night due to their
narcotic effect on the user. Indica strains are
perfect for users suffering from any type of
pain, nausea or anxiety. They're also preferable
for novice users as they acclimate themselves to
the herb. This variety is popular for meditation
or yoga due to its mind-calming qualities.

Marijuana isn't for everyone. Nothing is for
everyone.
But should we be throwing those it is for in
cages?
I dare you to say yes.

Mattress shortage hits Moi uni students

Moi University students have
complained to the school over lack of
mattresses at the university.
Angry students disrupted lectures and
rallied at the University grounds to
express their frustrations on the issue.
Students claimed that the catering and
accommodation department has been
slow to act on the problem. The
University’s rules does not allow
sharing of beds.
Speaking to Campus Vibe, the
Student’s Union secretary general
Nathaniel Akadima blamed the
situation on “unscrupulous dealers”.
“We have had a series of meetings to
confirm the issue. It is not a face value
issue, and the university has failed to
procure mattresses. How do you buy
mattresses from Kisumu yet we have
Raiply in Eldoret? Akadima posed.
Later, while addressing the students,
Deputy VC Prof Nathan Ogech said:
“The mattresses shall be available as
confirmed, and I promise to take the
blame if the assurance is not met. The
students should maintain calm and
check on the next course of action if
their grievances are not solved as
promised.”

Octopizzo Selected to Compose this Year’s World Cup Anthem

By Tagawah
Only 32 nations make it to play in the 2014
FIFA World Cup, but the whole world can
participate and that’s why Octopizzo will be
representing Kenya, in a big way.
The official FIFA song, “We Are One (Ole Ola)” which
teams Pitbull with Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer
Claudia Leitte tells the world to “put your flags up in
the sky” and embrace the worldwide party that the
World Cup is bound to be.
Octopizzo, Lady Jay Dee and Brazilian-American 'X
Factor' Finalist, David Correy, have been selected by
Coca Cola (official sponsors of World Cup) to come up
with a non-official anthem alongside the the official
2014 FIFA World Cup anthem, which was released
Monday.

End of days? The 'Tetrad' could signal the end of the world as we know it

By GariHirriyuki Tagawah

The end of the world could be upon
us if some religious premonitions are
to be believed.
This week sees the beginning of a
cosmic phenomenon which some
Christians have linked to the end of
days.
A 'Tetrad' sees four "dark blood-red
moons" appear in the skies and is a
precursor to "hugely significant
events" say experts.
Pastor John Magee, who has written a
book on the subject, said: "This is not
something that some religious think
tank has put together.
"NASA has confirmed that the Tetrad
has only happened three times in
more than 500 years — and that it's
going to happen now."
On each of those occasions a
religiously significant event has
occurred.
The first Tetrad of those, in 1493, saw
the expulsion of Jews by the Catholic
Spanish Inquisition, while the second,
in 1949, saw the creation of the state
of Israel after years of confrontation
and struggle.
The Six-Day Arab-Israeli War marked
the third, in 1967 - far earlier than had
been expected.
The first of four-consecutive "blood-
red lunar eclipses" followed by six full
moons is set for this week, and will
climax on September 28 next year.
A NASA spokesman said: "This is the
first eclipse of the year and is well
placed for observers throughout the
Western Hemisphere.
"It will occur at the lunar orbit's
ascending node in Virgo. This is the
first of four consecutive total lunar
eclipses in 2014 and 2015 - a series
known as a Tetrad."
If the Bible is to be believed then the
Tetrad could even signal the second
coming of Jesus Christ.
Joel 2:31 says: "The sun shall be
turned into darkness, and the moon
into blood, before the great and the
terrible day of the LORD comes."

Be warned: Kissing could give you cancer

Kenya: The act of kissing, especially
deep kissing, can give you cancer, a
study carried out in Mombasa has
shown.
For more than a decade, it has been
known that a strain of the sexually
transmitted virus called herpes, which
is quite common in most people, is
linked to the development of the skin
cancer called Kaposi sarcoma.
However, scientists have been
investigating the most likely mode of
transmission of the herpes virus 8
from one person to another. Now,
they think saliva and mouth-to-mouth
interaction between people could be
it.
On Friday, researchers from the
universities of Nairobi and Washington
in US, published a partial report of
their findings from a study carried out
on 40 women in Mombasa. It indicates
close mouth-to-mouth interaction
could be the biggest possible route of
transmission.

A full report, given to the media
yesterday by one of the investigators,
Prof Walter Jaoko of the University of Nairobi, and one of the country’s top
HIV researchers, concludes that saliva
is the most likely source of
transmission.
The team says it found high
concentration of the herpes virus in
the saliva of 27 of the 40 study
participants. “Salivary transmission
may be an important route of
infection because the mouth proved
to be an important storage of the virus
from where it can be transmitted to
others, eventually causing skin cancer
in some.”
Cancerous agent
Prof Jaoko’s team says the human
herpes virus 8 or HHV 8 is the
cancerous agent that causes all forms
of the skin tumor – Kaposi sarcoma –
ranging between 40 and 80 per cent in
Kenya and much of Africa.
In the Mombasa study, samples were
collected daily for 30 days and sent to
the University of Washington for
analysis. The researchers say the rates
and quantities of herpes viruses found
in the Kenyan women was nearly
double what had been observed in
other studies in Africa and the United
States. “The study demonstrates high
rates and quantities of the herpes
virus residing in the throats of these
women and more so those infected
with HIV and with high CD4
counts.”Now the team is
recommending that to reduce the
incidence of this type of skin cancer,
people diagnosed with herpes and are
HIV positive be put on antiretroviral
drugs as early as possible.
The first scientific connection between
kissing and herpes infection was
raised in 2000 by researchers in
Washington University, the same
involved in the current investigation.
The team had tested saliva samples in
gay men in the US for the presence of
the herpes virus. Led by Dr John Pauk
they had compared the level of herpes
virus in saliva of these men with what
was found in other body fluids and
concluded that saliva was the most
possible rout of transmission to
others.
The study if confirmed, could have
serious implications not only in adult
socialisation but among mothers who
pre-chew food for their babies or are
in the habit of kissing their children.

Unable to sleep? Eleven ways you can trick yourself into dozing off

We all know that a hot, milky drink and
a warm bath are supposed to relax
you before bed, but many of us still
can’t slip into slumber.
Ten million prescriptions for sleeping
pills are written every year in England
alone and a survey by Crampex has
found that 86% of us suffer from sleep
disturbance.
But you can trick yourself to sleep by
trying these expert natural tips...
Inhale through your left nostril
This yoga method is thought to reduce
blood pressure and calm you. Holistic
sleep therapist Peter Smith says: “Lie
on your left side, resting a finger on
your right nostril to close it. Start slow,
deep breathing in the left nostril.”
Peter, author of Sleep Better With
Natural Therapies (£13.99, Singing
Dragon, out October 28), says this
technique is particularly good when
overheating or menopausal hot
flushes are preventing sleep.
Squeeze and relax
Relaxing all your muscles can prepare
your body for sleep. Anxiety expert
Charles Linden says: “Lying on your
back, take a deep, slow breath in
through your nose and, at the same
time, squeeze your toes tightly as if
you are trying to curl them under your
foot, then release the squeeze.”
The author of Stress Free in 30 Days
(£10.99, Hay House) adds: “On
another slow breath, curl your foot up
toward your knee, then release.
Breath again, contract your calf
muscles, then your thighs, buttocks,
belly, chest, arms, and so on until you
have moved all the way up your body,
squeezing and releasing the muscles
one by one.”
When you have gone from head to
toe, your breathing should be steady
and you should feel ready for sleep.
Try to stay awake
Challenge yourself to stay awake –
your mind will rebel! It’s called the
sleep paradox, says psychotherapist
Julie Hirst (worklifebalancecentre.org).
She explains: “Keep your eyes wide
open, repeat to yourself ‘I will not
sleep’. The brain doesn’t process
negatives well, so interprets this as an
instruction to sleep and eye muscles
tire quickly as sleep creeps up.”
Rewind your day
Remembering the mundane detail in
reverse order clears your mind of
worries. Sammy Margo, author of The
Good Sleep Guide (£10.99, Vermilion)
says: “Recall conversations, sights and
sounds as you go. It helps you to
reach a mental state that’s ready for
sleep.”
Roll your eyes
Sammy says that closing your eyes and
rolling the balls up three times can do
the job. She says: “It simulates what
you do naturally when you fall asleep
and may help trigger the release of
your sleepy hormone, melatonin.”

Just imagine
Visualisation meditation works best
when you use at least three senses.
Sammy explains: “Imagine yourself in
a situation where you feel content – a
tropical paradise, sailing on calm
waters, walking in flower fields.
“As you explore your ‘happy place’
imagine smelling flowers, feeling grass
or sand under your feet and hearing
water lap against the boat. You should
soon feel relaxed and drift off.”
Hum to yourself
This yoga meditation generates an all-
pervading sense of calm, says Dr Chris
Idzikowski, Edinburgh Sleep Centre
Director and author of Sound Asleep,
The Expert Guide To Sleeping Well
(£10.99, Watkins Publishing).
Sit in a comfortable position. Close
your eyes, drop your shoulders , relax
your jaw, but keep your mouth gently
closed. Breathe in through your nose
as deeply as is comfortable, ensuring
your abdomen, not chest, rises.
Dr Idzikowski says: “Breathe gently out
of your mouth, lips together so you
hum. Try to hum for the whole out-
breath. Notice how it vibrates in your
chest. Focus fully on this vibration over
six breaths then sit quietly for a
moment. Tell yourself ‘I am ready for
sleep’, get up slowly and go to bed.”
Press here!
There are special points in the body
which promote sleep when pressed
gently but firmly. Dr Idzikowski
suggests: “Put your thumb on the
point between your eyebrows at the
top of your nose, where there’s a
slight indent. Hold for 20 seconds,
release briefly and repeat twice more.
“Next, sit on the edge of the bed and
put your right foot across your left
knee. Find the slight indent between
your big toe and second toe and
press in the same way.
“Finally, still supporting your right foot,
find the point just below the nail on
the upper side of your second toe.
Using the thumb and forefinger of
your right hand, gently squeeze the
toe.”
Find your trigger
The key to this trick is to start the habit
as you drift off during a period when
you are sleeping well, then you can
use it when you have difficulty.
Do something unusual, such as
stroking your own cheek, as you nod
off, says hypnotherapist Sharon Stiles
(sharonstiles.co.uk). “Focus all your
attention on what the movement feels
like,” says Sharon. Over successive
nights, your body will learn to
associate it with sleep and repeating it
should convince your body it’s sleepy.
Take a breather

Breathing naturally slows as you fall
asleep. The NightWave Sleep Assistant,
£49 from nightwave.co.uk, projects a
soft blue light, which slowly rises and
falls on the ceiling. Synchronise your
breathing with the wave as it becomes
slower and you should fall asleep
within a seven-minute cycle,
Make a worry list
Going over a to-do list in bed is a
major cause of insomnia. Sharon Stiles
says: “Often it’s because you’re
frightened of forgetting what needs
doing. So before bed, write your list
on paper so you can forget it until
next day. You could also imagine filing
your thoughts in a cabinet. You’ll be
calmer and more likely to sleep.”

Former Arsenal footballer joins Jihadi fighters-Osama was also an Arsenal fan.

A former Arsenal star is
thought to have joined a band of
ruthless Jihadi fighters waging war in
Syria.
The gun-toting fanatic is said to have
grown up playing with Real Madrid
galactico Cristiano Ronaldo.
The militia man turned his back on a
footballer's playboy lifestyle after
becoming radicalised two years ago, it
is claimed
He is filmed wielding an AK47 and
proclaiming holy war in two terror
videos on an extremist website.
Fellow jihadists say the fighter - who
now calls himself Abu Issa Al-Andalusi
- was brought up in Portugal before
signing for the Gunners.
In the footage he appears in a mask
calling on Muslims to join the Islamic
State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - an al-
Qaeda off-shoot group behind
murders and beheadings.
The faction has been blamed for
extreme violence against other
Islamist groups, Kurds and Syrian
President Bashar al-Assad’s brutal
regime.
The fanatic says: “It’s very important
for you to protect your children from
these animals, from these dirty
people; Allah says they are the worst
of creatures.”
One of the videos acts as a recruiting
call for supporters in the Ukraine.
The ex-Premier League footballer says
“we are in need of all kinds of help in
fighting the enemy”.
He boasts: “We have conquered many
cities and we are now implementing
the sharia. We have areas where the
kaffirs [non-Muslims] are paying us
the tax.”
The man is introduced in a subtitle by
his new name. He appears to be in his
late 20s as he speaks calmly on a
bridge in front of a serene lake.
But his words, spoken in English in a
heavy Portuguese or southern
European accent, contain a message
of hatred far removed from the world
of sport.
He says: “If you have family in these
[western] countries what is going to
happen probably.
“You don’t have control over your
children. Maybe in some of countries
it’s a must for you to put your children
in the kaffir schools.

The Middle East Media Research
Institute, which works with the US
government on counter-terrorism,
gave weight to the credibility of the
website.
A spokesman said: “It has been active
for a couple of years now, bringing
reports about the activities of jihadi
groups in Syria to Russian speakers.
“At least some of the people behind
the site are in Syria themselves.
“The site regularly brings videos from
the field showing video messages and
talks of jihad fighters, news reports,
scenes and footage of combat, and
general jihadi material.
“The site clearly supports the Islamic
State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).”
A spokesman for the Syrian
Observatory of Human Rights said:
“There are thousands of foreign
fighters in Syria from all over the
world.
“But at present there is no information
about a footballer who played for
Arsenal.”
Another former professional
footballer, Nizar Trabelsi, who had
played in Germany for Fortuna
Dusseldorf, was lined up for terror
attacks after joining al-Qaeda.
The Tunisian was caught and jailed for
10 years before he could carry out the
plots, including an attack on the US
Embassy in Paris.
The ranks of ISIS also included
Londoner Abu Suleiman al-Britani,
who rammed a truck into a Syrian
prison to allow hundreds of prisoners
to escape.
Arsenal have launched an investigation
into the claims.
A spokesman said: “We do not
recognise the individual from the
published clips and we don’t have any
record of a Abu Isa al-Andalusi
representing the club at any level.”
Fanatical football
Osama bin Laden was an Arsenal fan
during his time living in London.
Fans even used to chant: “Osama,
woah-woah, Osama, woah-waoh, he’s
hiding in Kabul, he loves the Arsenul”.

Radical MUSLIM youths from Majengo vow to revenge Sheikh MAKABURI’s killing by killing 1,000 CHRISTIANS

By Me
A group of Muslim youth from
Majengo slum in Mombasa have
vowed to revenge the killing of
controversial Muslim cleric Sheikh
Abubakar Shariff alias Makaburi
by killing 1,000 Christians (Kafirs)
in the next one month.
Speaking to a Mombasa based
radio, the youths who made calls
in the morning show, said it was
wrong for the Jubilee Government
to kill a man who was defending
Muslims’ rights.
They quoted the book of Koran,
Ibn Kathir’s tarsi of 5:33 “ The
only reward for those who make war
upon Allah and His messenger and
strive after corruption in the land will
be that they will be killed or crucified,
or have their hands and feet on
alternate sides cut off, or will be
expelled out of the land. Such will be
their degradation in the world, and in
the Hereafter theirs will be an awful
doom…”
They said Sheikh Makaburis are
many in the slums despite
numerous arrests and
assassinations by the Government
of President Uhuru Kenyatta and
his Deputy, William Ruto.
Meanwhile in Nairobi, bomb
experts have successfully
detonated a bomb found earlier
today at Juja Road Petrol Station
near Moi Airforce base. No
injuries have been reported.

KTN’s MOHAMMED ALI says UHURU/ RUTO are planting bombs to scare Kenyans and justify killing MUSLIMs

KTN’s
investigative journalist,
Mohammed Ali, has claimed that
the Government of President
Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy,
William Ruto, is harassing and
detaining innocent Muslims in
Eastleigh and the Coast in the
name of fighting terrorism.
On his Twitter account,
Mohammed Ali, aka Moha
absolved the Muslim community
from blame over increased Al-
Shabaab terrorism activities in
Kenya.
He noted that the Government of
Uhuru and Ruto is fooling Kenyans
and that it is planting bombs and
grenades to scare Kenyans in
order to justify the killing of
innocent Muslims in the name of
fighting terrorism.
However, he said one day he will
bring out the truth through his
popular Jicho Pevu to show
Kenyans how the Jubilee
Government is hell-bent to wipe
out Muslims.
Here are his tweets;-
MOHA # How does the Government
find these bombs? Who is fooling
who or who is planting these bombs
to justify the war on terror by
creating fear among Kenyans?
MOHA # I wonder where the location
of tomorrows bomb and grenade will
be.
MOHA # The system can fool people
sometimes but can’t fool all the people
all the time. One day Kenyans will
know the truth though it will be too
late.
MOHA # Innocent people in Eastleigh
are being harassed and detained in
the name of fighting terror.

Did Makaburi just ask for his death !?

By Fred
Makaburi's pronouncements in the
last week or so were quite audacious.
Stating one's willingness to die for a
cause they believe in is one thing, but
provoking and antagonizing a nation
that is still coming to terms with one
of the worst terrorist attacks in the
country is another. The last time I
read Makaburi's taunts to those who
dare to kill him, my thoughts went to
his wife and children. In retrospect,
who can honestly say that this man
did not have it coming? Whether he
deserved to die that way or not is
debatable, but it's hard to say he did
not ask for it

PSG sink Chelsea, Real punish BVB

Paris St Germain and
Real Madrid took big
steps towards the
Champions League
semifinals on
Wednesday as the
French club beat Chelsea 3-1 and the
Spaniards dismantled Borussia
Dortmund 3-0 in the quarterfinal first
legs. /p>
PSG opened the scoring at the Parc
des Princes after four minutes when
John Terry's headed clearance fell to
Ezequiel Lavezzi and the Argentine
forward thumped a half-volley past
Petr Cech.
Eden Hazard grabbed a crucial away
goal for Chelsea from the penalty spot
after 27 minutes after Brazilian
defender Thiago Silva fouled
compatriot Oscar.
PSG restored their advantage on 61
minutes, however, thanks to a David
Luiz own goal before Javier Pastore
waltzed into the area and fired a shot
past Cech at his near post in stoppage
time.
Real flew out of the traps against
Dortmund and took the lead on three
minutes when Gareth Bale collected
Daniel Carvajal's pass and poked the
ball under goalkeeper Roman
Weidenfeller.
Carlo Ancelotti's side continued to
swarm all over last season's beaten
finalists and Isco's precise strike from
the edge of the box doubled Real's
advantage on 27 minutes.
The fleet-footed Cristiano Ronaldo
added a third on 57 minutes as he
skipped round Weidenfeller to give
Real a comfortable cushion and equal
Lionel Messi's record of 14 goals in the
competition in one season.
In Tuesday's quarterfinal first legs,
holders Bayern Munich were held to a
1-1 draw at Manchester United and
Barcelona drew 1-1 at home to
Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid. The
second legs will be played on 8 and 9
April.
Basically this puts all BPL teams out of Champions League, putting in mind that the favorites (Manchester City )are already out!
